Munich Christmas Market

Hold your breath and tread the ground carefully when visiting the Munich Christmas market. This is one of the oldest of Germany’s Christmas markets whose roots can be traced back to the fourteenth century. This market is located in the heart of the city center, on Marienplatz.

The sheer variety of goods available over here brings thrills to the heart of everyone. Some of the items up for sale in this market include chimney sweeps made of almonds and plums, bee wax candles, crib figurines. Some of the goods are imported from close by locales, like the glassware from the Bavarian forest, Nuremburg’s gingerbread, Obermmergau’s woodcarvings etc.

However, this is not the end of it all. In reality, there are thousands of items put up for sale over here. Kids between the age of 6 to 12 years can enjoy the Town Hall’s Heavenly Workshop where they can enjoy the time of their lives learning how to bake Christmas cookies or just have fun with crafts and art.

A short distance away lies the popular Krippermarkt which is famous all over Germany for its cribs and other nativity accessories. The items put up for sale over here are all that you require to create an authentic manger. (photo: Windpomp)
