Munich Stadtmuseum

Welcome to the Munich Stadtmuseum where you can view exhibits that help you to learn more about the history of the city. From time to time, this museum also displays special exhibitions covering a wide array of topics including that of international culture and civilization.

Three floors were added to this museum in the year 2008 that displays the culture of the city from the middle ages to the current period. Do not worry if you cannot read the descriptions of the exhibits because they are in the German language. Guides knowing the English language along with pamphlets printed in the English language are also available.

Do not try to rush past the ground floor in a hurry since you can a box on the floor that contains relics of the ancient monks. The prized exhibit of the ground floor is a replica of Munich city as it was in the year 1570, with the walls of the city intact.

The figurines of the Morris Dancers, dating back to 1480 are a big draw amongst visitors. Once upon a time, these figurines decorated the ballroom of Altes Rathaus. Other exhibits on the ground floor include a bust of Max I that dates back to 1650, knight’s armors from the medieval days along with reproductions of four `puttos’ from the year 1640.
